and partly in our fabulous yurt classroom.

Course Fees reduced for 2011

In the light of the continuing recession we have decided to reduce our course fees still further for 2011 in the hope of making our courses accessible to more people.

You can now buy a personalised Merryweather’s Herbs Course Gift Voucher. Just book in the usual way, but state that this is a gift and tell us the name of the person it’s for and we will send you a gift voucher made out to them. Or if you prefer, we can send it directly to them with a note to say who it’s from. And there’s no extra charge.

• GARDENING WITH WILDLIFE (1 day course - Course Fee: £35) – From wildlife desert to wildlife haven: A demonstration of how the gardens created here have allowed a wide variety of flora and fauna to move in, and lots of ideas on how - and why - to encourage a greater range of creatures into your own garden space, however small. Day includes wildlife tours of the gardens.
Dates: Sunday 3rd July
How to make space for wildlife; what to grow, what not to grow; timing your tasks; linking to a wider habitat; why garden organically.

• VEGETABLE GROWING FOR THE PETRIFIED (2 day course - Course Fee: £70) - An introductory two day course for people who want to grow their own food but don’t know where to start. Ideal for people just taking on an allotment or with a spare patch of garden where they want to experiment with vegetable growing.
Dates: Sunday 10th July & Saturday 13th August also Monday 25th July & Monday 22nd August
Course includes making the most of your site & understanding your soil; site clearance & soil preparation; crop groups and simple crop rotation; choosing what to grow; weed & pest control; the importance of compost making. Includes a tour round our working kitchen garden. Following on from day 1, the second day looks at how to extend the season, seed saving, compost making, green manures and companion planting, harvesting & storing. Includes a further visit to our working kitchen garden.

• VEGETABLE GROWING CLINIC (half day, 10am to 1pm- Fee: £7.50 per head - booking essential) - An opportunity to discuss what's happening in your vegetable plot. Bring your questions, problems, successes and failures and know you're not alone! Aimed primarily at people who have previously been on our vegetable growing course, these clinics are also open to anyone who wants help or advice with their vegetable growing, or simply wants to compare notes.
Dates: Saturday 23rd July

Courses run from 10am to 4pm. Bring packed lunch, hot & cold drinks provided. (Half day clinics finish before lunch, at 1pm.)
